The Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (CNDS) Research Group has some 20 staff members, and is divided into a number of subgroups: the CompNet group, the Distributed Systems group, and the Network Security group.

CompNet group

The group is currently working on QoS in mobile & wireless networks, cooperative networks, sensor and Ad-Hoc networks, security in Ad Hoc routing, and packet trace generation. The projects and publications links below lead to fuller information about this and other work in the group.

Distributed Systems group

The group is currently working on economics oriented distributed systems, particularly on resource allocation mechanisms for Grid and peer-to-peer, on decentralized systems applied to Ambient Networks, and applications supporting cooperative learning (CSCL).  The projects and publications links below lead to fuller information about this and other work in the group.

Projects:

  • Catnets
    Economic algorithms for resource allocation.
  • SORMA
Development of methods and tools for an efficient market-based allocation of resources, through a self-organizing resource management system, using market-driven models supported by extensions for Grid infrastructures.
  • Grid4All
Grid4All aims at enabling domestic users, non-profit organisations such as schools, and small enterprises, to share their resources and to access massive Grid resources when needed, envisioning a future in which access to resources is democratised, readily available, cooperative, and inexpensive.

Network Security group

The group is currently working on different aspects of network security. The projects and publications links below lead to fuller information about this and other work in the group.
